Duncan Street Baptist Church, Carrubbers Christian Centre, and Charlotte Baptist Chapel pooled their talents to celebrate significant anniversaries this year
The idea of holding a collaborative Christianity Explored course in Edinburgh was mooted for the first time early in 2008 by three city centre churches who saw the potential to:
The aim was to create a freshness in the CE teams and an additional focus for congregational support. The first stage was adopting the moniker 'Edinburgh 550 Christianity Explored' in acknowledgement of a combined total of 550 years of faithful gospel ministry in the centre of Edinburgh between the three churches.
To service the venture, a half-day introduction and envisioning session, a condensed version of the CE Biblical Evangelism Strategy training, was held in June.
Shortly before the course began, Table Leader Confidence (TLC) training was given in two evening sessions. This had been adapted by Craig Dyer, CE Training Director, from the training notes for Sessions 1 to 9 of the CE Study Guide Leaders' Edition.
Each session was designed to be dynamic, engaging and practical. Table leaders explored the aim, approach and attitude of their role on the first evening session, followed by a session on tackling difficult questions and situations.
Freshly equipped in this way, the Edinburgh 550 Christianity Explored team ran the course from the end of September to the middle of November in the city centre, only a stone's throw from John Knox’s house.
The team now awaits with expectation and anticipation the work of God in opening blind eyes to the identity, mission and call of our Lord Jesus Christ.
